TATTOO AFTERCARE Keep the covering on for at least two hours but not more than ten. You can throw this away. Wash with fingertips, not a washcloth, with an antibacterial soap. One without perfumes or dyes. Rub softly because the skin will be tender. Wash until it is smooth. If you notice the tattoo starts to peel or flake while washing, it's ok, this is normal. But DO NOT try to scrub it all off, let it come off in it's own time. Apply either a tattoo specific balm or mild lotion such as Lubriderm, Eucerin (Aquafor) or Curel. When in doubt ask your tattooist. (Since every artist is different, ask the one who gave you the tattoo) Wash every day this way and apply balm at least 4 times a day for the first week. It is Very important to keep your tattoo moist. Don't let it dry out. If you notice that it feels "tight", It's too dry and you need to put some ointment on it. If it starts to look dry and flaky, put some stuff on it. Any clothing that might be rubbing on the new tattoo needs to be clean, and changed daily. Do not peel the flakes off. This will cause you to pull out the ink and leave a hole in the tattoo. Any flaking will come off in it's own time when it's ready. Do Not swim, hot tub, or tan for at least ten days, and always use a sun block. Do not soak your new tattoo in a bathtub. If the tattoo is going to be under water, stick to a shower for the first ten days. Do not use Neosporin. Do not let your dog or cat lick on it. Do not listen to "how your friend did it". Do not put Vaseline on it. Do not use Melaleuca. Once again, Do not use Melaleuca. If you have any questions that are not covered above, Please call us. We are always happy to answer any questions.
